A few comments were made on the Field Hockey Forum here stating peoples opinions on the rule change interpretations.
It’s a joke right? This rule is so useless! I mean, there are like a million exceptions and then there’re different rules depending on where you’re located on the pitch, so this rule is doomed to be ignored or wrongly decided by every single referee I know!!!!111!
Trying to get a better flow into most hockey games might be a good idea…this rule…simply ain’t.
What about instructing referees to be more relaxed in case of advantages?!
Or allowing high balls from free hits near your own D without the necessity of one of your teammates to touch it (assuming that no opponent player is endangered)?!
Anyway, I’m not a member of the FIH rule comittee, so it’s not my decision…
